24-Hour Emergency AC Repair in Ypsilanti and Southeast Michigan
No cooling at 11 p.m. on a 92-degree night, a newborn in the house, or Grandma upstairs with a heart condition: call and Al picks up. No overtime surcharge, ever.
Temprasure is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we mean it in the way that matters: when you call at 2 a.m. on the Fourth of July because the house is 84 degrees and climbing, the phone is answered by Al, not a service that promises someone will call you back in the morning. Our reviews are full of people who reached us on a Sunday evening after a long list of other companies went to voicemail. We run emergency AC calls across Washtenaw and western Wayne County at the same flat rate we charge on a Tuesday afternoon, because a heat wave is not a reason to charge you more for the same capacitor.
Not every no-cooling call is an emergency, and we will tell you honestly which is which. A house at 78 on a Tuesday night with healthy adults in it can usually wait until morning, and we will book you first thing. The calls we treat as true emergencies are the ones where heat is a health problem: an infant or a newborn in the house, an elderly family member, anyone with a heart or lung condition, someone on oxygen or certain medications, a home-bound patient, or a stretch where the National Weather Service has an excessive heat warning out for Washtenaw County and the upstairs is pushing 90. Those calls go to the front of the line, day or night.
Most emergency AC repairs are the same failures as daytime repairs, just at a worse hour. Run capacitors that give up on the first 90-degree afternoon. Contactors that weld shut or burn open. Condenser fan motors that seize, leaving the compressor to overheat and trip on its internal overload. Breakers that trip on a hard-starting compressor during a DTE voltage sag. Frozen evaporator coils from a filter nobody changed since January. Float switches that shut the system down because the condensate drain clogged. The truck carries all of those parts, so an emergency call usually ends with the system running again that night rather than with a promise to come back once a part is ordered.
While you wait, there are a few things worth doing. If there is ice on the copper line or the indoor coil, turn the system off at the thermostat and switch the fan to On so the coil can thaw before we arrive; running a frozen system can flood the compressor with liquid refrigerant. If the outdoor unit is humming but the fan is not spinning, shut it off at the thermostat, because the compressor is cooking itself. Check the breaker once, and only once; if it trips again, leave it off. Close blinds on the sunny side, run ceiling fans, and move anyone heat-sensitive to the lowest floor, which in most Michigan houses with a basement is 10 to 15 degrees cooler. Then call or text us and we will give you a real arrival time.
Emergency AC repair follows the same rules as every other Temprasure job. We diagnose with a meter and gauges, show you what failed, and quote the repair as a flat rate before any work starts. The dispatch fee covers the trip and the diagnosis and is credited toward the repair. There is no night, weekend or holiday multiplier on either number. If the honest answer is that the compressor is gone on a 20-year-old R-22 unit, we will say so, get you through the night if we can, and come back with a replacement estimate when you have had a chance to think.
Emergency AC work we have photographed

Signs it is time to call
No cooling during a heat warning
When the county is under an excessive heat advisory and the house is climbing past 85, waiting for business hours is not a reasonable option. Call now.
Infants, elderly or medically vulnerable people in the home
Heat is dangerous for newborns, older adults and anyone with heart, lung or kidney conditions. We prioritize these calls over everything else, any hour.
Outdoor unit humming, fan not turning
A seized fan motor or dead capacitor leaves the compressor running with no way to shed heat. Shut it off at the thermostat and call before it fails for good.
Ice on the lines or coil
A frozen system is one step away from compressor damage. Turn the cooling off, run the fan, and call us. We can usually repair the airflow or charge problem the same night.
Breaker trips and trips again
A compressor pulling locked-rotor amps or a shorted motor will keep tripping the breaker. Resetting it repeatedly is a fire risk. Leave it off and call.
Burning smell or smoke from the unit
A burning electrical smell at the furnace or condenser means a motor winding, a contactor or wiring is overheating. Kill power at the breaker and call us immediately.
Water pouring from the furnace area
A clogged drain overflowing into a finished basement is an emergency for the house even if the system is still cooling. We clear and reset it the same visit.
How the visit goes
Call or text, any hour
You reach Al directly. Tell us what the system is doing and who is in the house. We will tell you whether to shut the unit off and give you an honest arrival time, not a vague window.
Triage over the phone
A few quick questions sort out the breaker, the thermostat and the frozen-coil situations. Sometimes we can get you cooling again before we even leave the shop.
On-site diagnosis with real tools
Capacitor test, voltage and amp readings, contactor and motor checks, refrigerant pressures with superheat and subcooling, coil and drain inspection. The same diagnosis as a daytime call.
Flat-rate quote, same price as daytime
We show you the failed part and quote the repair as one number before touching anything. No overtime rate, no emergency rate, no holiday rate.
Repair from the truck
Capacitors, contactors, fan motors, hard-start kits, fuses, float switches and refrigerant ride with us so the overwhelming majority of emergency calls are fixed on the spot.
Verify and leave it running
Full cycle, temperature split, amp draw. If a bigger problem is lurking behind the one we fixed, you will hear about it from us before we go, with options and no pressure.

How pricing works
An emergency AC call costs the same as a scheduled one. The flat dispatch fee covers the trip and a complete diagnosis at any hour, and it is credited toward the repair if you approve it. The repair itself is quoted as a flat rate per job before work starts, and that rate does not change because it is midnight, Sunday or Labor Day. We think charging a family more for the same capacitor because the house is hotter is backwards, so we do not.
Most emergency cooling calls end up being capacitors, contactors, fan motors or drain problems, which are among the least expensive repairs we do. When the problem is bigger, a failed compressor on an old unit for example, we tell you plainly, help you get through the night where we can, and give you a free replacement estimate with no obligation.
If you are a service-agreement member, you get priority dispatch on emergency calls and a discount on the repair. In a heat wave when our schedule is full, that priority is worth a lot.
From the people we have helped
★★★★★Al was great! I had no A/C on the hottest day of the year and I was able to diagnose it to a failed capacitor. I was calling for the part and no one had stock. I spoke with Al and he was able to help me within an hour — came out, installed and rolling same day. Al is a great guy, highly recommend.
★★★★★Al is kind, prompt, and has great communication. He rescheduled with me when the weather was not warm enough to ensure no damage was done to my AC unit but communicated early and professionally. He also offered an early-bird discount for getting my service done before the thick of summer, which I appreciated. Thanks for spending part of your birthday making sure my AC unit was running smoothly!
★★★★★My AC hadn't been working for the past few days. I called Al on Saturday to see if he could come out sometime next week. I told him what my problem was and he asked me if Sunday morning would be good for him to come over and take a look at it. Of course I said yes. He came this morning and fixed the problem. Very pleased with his service.
Questions we hear most
Do you really answer at night and on weekends?
Yes. The number rings to Al. Our reviews include a New Year's Eve furnace call and multiple July weekend no-AC calls, because people who reached voicemail everywhere else finally reached us.
Is there an extra charge for emergency AC repair?
No. The dispatch fee and the flat-rate repair price are identical at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and 2 a.m. on Sunday. We do not have an overtime, after-hours or holiday rate.
What counts as an AC emergency?
No cooling during a heat advisory, a home with an infant, elderly person or someone with a medical condition that heat makes dangerous, a unit that is smoking or smells like burning, a breaker that keeps tripping, or water pouring from the furnace. If you are not sure, call and we will tell you honestly whether it can wait until morning.
What should I do while I wait for you?
If you see ice, turn cooling off and the fan on. If the outdoor unit hums without the fan spinning, shut it off. Reset the breaker once at most. Close blinds, run fans, and move heat-sensitive family members to the basement or lowest floor. Hydrate.
How fast can you get here?
Inside our 20-mile radius, usually within a couple of hours, day or night. During a county-wide heat wave we triage by health risk first, so tell us who is in the house. We will give you a real time, not a four-hour window.
Can you fix it the same night or will you have to order parts?
The vast majority of emergency repairs are capacitors, contactors, motors, fuses, drains and refrigerant, all of which are on the truck. Compressors and some OEM control boards are the exceptions, and we will tell you up front if that is what you are facing.
The AC died and I have a newborn. What now?
Call us right away and say so. Homes with infants, elderly or medically vulnerable people go to the front of the line. While you wait, keep the baby on the lowest floor, lightly dressed, with a fan moving air, and watch for flushed skin or unusual sleepiness.
My AC is old. Will you pressure me to replace it at midnight?
No. If a repair gets you through the night, we do that and talk about replacement another day. If the compressor is gone on a 20-year-old unit, we will say so, help you set up fans and cooling strategies, and come back with a free estimate when you are ready.
Do you take emergency calls from landlords and tenants?
Yes. Tenants can call us directly, we coordinate with the owner or property manager on approval, and the invoice and findings go to whoever you tell us. A tenant without cooling in a heat wave is an emergency regardless of who holds the lease.
