About New Boston
New Boston is the main village in Huron Township, a small cluster of houses, a few bars and shops and a rail crossing where Huron River Drive meets the river south of Belleville. The Huron River bends through here on its way to Lake Erie, and the three metroparks, Lower Huron, Willow and Oakwoods, run in a continuous chain along it, which makes the township one of the greenest in Wayne County. We get there by I-94 to Belleville Road, south through Belleville and Van Buren on Sumpter Road or Haggerty, then along Huron River Drive, about twenty-five minutes. Waltz, a few miles west, is an even smaller crossroads hamlet with its own church and tavern. The rest of the township is section roads with farms, acreage homes, a few 1970s subdivisions off Middlebelt and Inkster Road, and the Willow Run of the south, a big block of warehouses along I-275 and Sibley Road. Residents are a mix of long-time farm and railroad families, airport and auto workers who wanted land, and newer arrivals building large houses on split lots. Huron Township runs its own schools and keeps a small-town feel despite being twenty minutes from Metro Airport.
What New Boston houses need from an HVAC company
New Boston and Huron Township give us a wide spread of housing in a small area. The village core along Huron River Drive and the streets behind it has 1900s to 1930s frame houses with Michigan basements or crawlspaces, retrofitted ductwork and a furnace that was replaced sometime in the 90s. Waltz is similar but older on average. The 1960s and 70s ranches and subdivisions off Middlebelt, Sibley and Hannan Roads are on block basements or crawlspaces, with single-return furnaces and add-on central air from the 80s. Out on the section roads, 1990s to 2010s acreage builds are large colonials and ranches on poured basements with two-stage furnaces, sometimes a second attic system, and a pole barn with its own heater. Water is a mix of municipal supply in the village and wells outside it, and the well water is hard. Propane is the fuel on a fair number of rural parcels, which changes the furnace and water heater options.
Weather and the equipment it tests
The Huron River and the three metroparks keep New Boston humid and foggy, and the low ground near the river floods in spring, which affects basements and crawlspaces in the village. The open farmland on the west side of the township takes winter wind across the fields with no shelter, and the township runs a touch colder on clear nights than the suburbs to the north. Tree cover in the parks and along the river gives shade but drops debris into condensers all fall.
Local details we plan around
- Huron Township requires mechanical permits and inspections for furnace, AC and water heater replacements, and the inspectors are familiar with the propane installations common in the rural half.
- Propane furnaces and water heaters on the rural parcels need conversion kits and different orifices, and we carry what is needed for both propane and natural gas.
- Well water across the township outside the village is hard and often high in iron, which shortens water heater life and scales humidifier pads quickly.
- River flooding in the village means we raise replacement furnaces and water heaters on pads and route condensate carefully.
- Many properties have a pole barn or outbuilding with a unit heater or small furnace that we service along with the house.
- Long driveways and addresses spread across 36 square miles mean we batch Huron Township calls, but same-day service is still the norm.

Reviews from across our service area
★★★★★Al and his team are great. Our furnace stopped working on New Year's Eve. I called 10 HVAC shops and no one would come out except Al. He helped determine our problem and within a week I had a new furnace that was covered by my home insurance. I had a few problems post-install and the Temprasure team came over immediately on the weekend to fix it. Great company. Highly recommend!!
★★★★★Alfred at Temprasure is our go-to guy when it comes to our HVAC. We've used him twice (soon to be a third time) and he's always been honest, trustworthy, communicative, and reliable. We recommend him 100%. He has saved us thousands over the last couple of years by diagnosing and fixing our furnace where I'm convinced any other company would have tried to sell us a new furnace or some hefty fix. Don't use anyone else!
★★★★★My elderly non-English-speaking parents needed their water heater replaced and Temprasure did not leave until they made sure my parents were satisfied and happy to have hot water once again. They were very patient with them and did not abandon them even though I know sometimes it's hard to deal with my non-speaking parents. They checked back with us a few days later to make sure everything was still working good. I definitely would recommend this company.
